Overview

As a Data Governance Intern, you will support Alex Lee’s governance initiatives on grocery product data. This internship provides a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in understanding and enhancing data quality, ensuring compliance with data policies, and supporting the overall data governance framework. Interns are partnered with Data Governance professionals and work closely with the broader Data Management team contributing to critical data management activities.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with data stewards and subject matter experts to understand data requirements for the grocery industry.
• Contribute to the creation and maintenance of metadata repositories.
• Support the documentation of data definitions, business rules, and data lineage.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of data dictionaries and data catalogs.
• Participate in data quality monitoring activities.
• Help in the implementation of data quality checks and validation processes.

Qualifications

Note that (i) computer literacy and working-level skill with the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), (ii) good verbal and written communication skills, (iii) good interpersonal skills, and (iv) the ability to work well both individually and in a team, environment are default requirements for all Alex Lee interns.

 

• Current enrollment in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program (e.g., Library Science, Information Science, Business Analytics, Data Science).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Basic understanding of data management concepts and principles.
• Basic understanding of metadata management and data quality controls.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute to a collaborative team environment.
