Major Functions:
• Direct the ongoing merchandising activities required in opening new stores, converting stores to MDI, remodeling existing accounts, and resets.
Territory includes:
Accountabilities:
• Plan, organize, and oversee all non-perishable merchandising tasks involved in store resets, sets, conversions,
and new store openings for MDI non-chain business.
• Schedule activity with store owners in conjunction with Retail Counselors and plan needed resources to
accomplish the set in a timely fashion.
• Coordinate the scheduling and communication of store set activity to ensure maximum participation of vendors.
• Propose layout of non-perishable categories within store in conjunction with Retail Counselor and store
owner/manager, taking into consideration store format, demographics, size, and location, resulting in maximum
sales and profitability.
• Provide direction and establish standards for vendors to utilize correct plan-o-grams with correct placement and
implication.
• Assist in coordination efforts to build mini set teams to implement plan-o-grams at retail for participating
retailers.
• Assist in introduction of new items at retail by supporting the new item speed-to-shelf plan-o-gram program.
• Work with equipment buyer, Retail Counselor, store owner/manager to coordinate the purchase and delivery of
equipment to coincide with needed set/reset activity.
• Coordinate activity of mini set teams blitzing participating retailers.
• Supervise the daily activities of 30-35 non-direct-report vendors.
• Assure that developed and assigned plan-o-grams are implemented according to guidelines.
• Coordinate the needs of non-food associates in conjunction with sets/resets.
• Supervise trainers and team captains for mini teams and plan-o-gram usage.
Desirable Qualifications:
• Should possess 4-year college degree in business or related field or equivalent of 5-7 years’ experience in store merchandising activities.
• Should possess strong communication, analytical, planning, organizational, and interpersonal skills Dimensions:
• Support 200+ stores.
• Supervise activities of 45+ non-direct-report vendors.
• Coordinate efforts of mini teams consisting of 40+ non-direct-report vendors and 6+ MDI associates.
Direction/Responsibility:
• Work under the general direction of the Director of Retail Services.
• Must make decisions independently to address day-to-day activities.
• Work closely with MDI Retail Counselors, equipment buyer, and store owners/managers
