Overview

The Retail Data Analyst provides support to the Category Management, e-Commerce and Marketing teams by conducting complete analysis and reporting for one or more functional areas of the business.

Responsibilities

  1. Prepares extensive analysis of scan data, private label, and complex promotions to monitor sales and profit contribution at the item and category level (data cubed by store, division, or company) for Category Managers, e-Commerce and Brand Directors.
  2. Develops and maintains information on impact of sale items and their relationships to sales growth and achievement of sales and profit contribution targets. Provide periodic ad-hoc reports pertaining to sales, loyalty data, etc.
  3. Develops, implements and maintains applicable integrated use of 3rd party (external to company) data that benchmarks LFS position in the market relative to identified competitors. Manages ROI and/Nielson data collections and reporting.
  4. Builds, maintains, and communicates appropriate measurement systems that quantify category and item level results of merchandising/marketing.
  5. In conjunction with Category Manager(s), develop menu for promotional base plan, which includes weekly flyer (items & price by Brand).
  6. Conduct competitive analysis used to determine appropriate promotional retails and frequency.
  7. Monitor competitive price checks and alert Category Manager(s) to and make price changes consistent with brand strategies. Communicate to pricing technicians retail price changes due to cost/deal changes.
  8. Provide data to determine best practice category product-specific pricing principles, promotional programming, feature/display activity and in store shopper marketing investment for responsible categories.
  9. Leverages Private Brand to build customer loyalty and profitability for the category and organization.
  10. Responsible for ensuring that the shelf presentation and planogram components or responsible category(s) is reviewed and executed in accordance with the brand role based strategic plan and standard practice guidelines.
  11. Assist Category Manager(s) with managing vendor allowances for the category to ensure targets are met.
  12. Provide results of the category to determine the financial measurements tracked vs. targets.

 

Qualifications

Possess the knowledge and skills generally associated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field, MBA preferred. Should possess a strong working knowledge generally associated with 2-4 years’ experience in the food and/or retail industry. Highly skilled in computer technologies with emphasis in spreadsheet and database programs. Experience with scan data, t-log, and exploratory data analytics is a must. Specific programs include Microsoft Office, Nielsen, IRI, Cognos, scanner technologies, and all mainframe jobs and programs. Highly skilled in technology and analytical tasks, experience with e-Commerce and Marketing Analytics preferred. Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Strong communication, interpersonal, leadership, and presentation development skills are required. Must be results oriented with an emphasis on good time management skills to deliver on-time and accurate analysis in a rapidly changing environment.
